I think I was spoiled growing up with such good Grandparents. So many kids grow up today without a close relationship to their Grandparents. I was fortunate to have 4 good Grandparents, I spent a lot of time with each of them and learned a lot from them. My parents both worked, so I always spent the summertime with my Grandparents and I always looked forward to it. I grew up in a time where we did not have computers or 300 T.V. stations to choose from. We had to find other ways to keep ourselves entertained. My Grandmother was a wizard at that. We would play in the sprinkler together, she would read to us and tell us stories, she would make up games for us to play, she would play records for us and we would sing, she taught me to play many card games, she taught me gardening and cooking, we would plant, grow, and cook together the vegetables we had grown. She was the best cook in the whole world. We went on vacations together and I don't ever remember being bored. She would always take the time to explain things to us and answer any questions we may have had. She always seemed to care and understand our problems. Whenever we didn't get what we wanted from our parents, we could always appeal to Grandma, and she would always make things right somehow or another. Its funny how fresh, hot peanut butter cookies can make a kid forget his problems. I think she was born to play this role in my life. I will always cherish my memories with her and the impact she has made on my life. Rest In Peace Grandma. I will see you again someday in Heaven. I am glad you are no longer in pain.
