Robert Jones Obituary

JONES
Robert C Jones, a lifelong resident of San Antonio, passed away on November 30, 2011 at the age of 81 after a prolonged illness. Bob was born in Birmingham, AL, on December 29, 1929 to Frank and Lucille Jones. He graduated from Alamo Heights High School where he was the star center on the football team. He attended Vanderbilt University and graduated from The University of Texas Austin. He proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War on the USS Coral Sea. He remained active in many civic organizations in San Antonio after retiring from the insurance business. He and his wife, Karon Kallies Jones, the love of his life, traveled extensively all over the world after his retirement with several trips to Italy, his favorite foreign destination. All who knew Bob remember him as the ultimate gentleman and appreciated his quick wit and wry sense of humor. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lucille Jones and his brother, Frank Jones. He is survived by his wife and companion of nearly 30 years, Karon Kallies Jones, his son, Rob Jones of Ukiah, California, his step-children, Brian (Chasity) Kallies and Geoffrey (Jennifer) Kallies of New Braunfels, Melissa Kallies of San Antonio and Queretaro, Mexico, his sister Barbara (Lee) Ricks of Pleasanton, his step-grandchildren, Laila, Jaden and Max Kallies, and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Visit www.sunsetfuneralhomesa.com to offer your condolences.

Karon I was so sorry to learn of Bobby's passing. I think back last year at Ruth's birthday an the wonderful time we all had. Bobby had a very dry sense of humor and he would get me every time. He taught me a lot about the insurance and bond industry. You have taken such good, loving care of Bobby.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
