I was just thinking back over the golf professional who started my golfing experience and found this obituary on Joe. He worked with me at the Los Alamitos country club from the time I was 12 years old until he left. My dad held Joe in such high regard and I was willing to work as hard as he wanted me to. He helped organize the exhibition match between Patty Berg, Pat McCormick and myself. A definite highlight of my golfing career. I have nothing but fond memories of Joe.

I knew Joe as Joey the Pro-y and met him at Steel Canyon Golf Course. He was so incredibly wonderful, so upbeat, and such a great instructor. I am sorry, so late, to learn of his passing. I can see their house from ours, and remember going over to get macadamia nuts. Bettie, we never met, but your husband was such a gentleman and such a wonderful man. We are all uplifted by his being in our lives.
Very fondly,
Mary Hart

Joe was a great guy. Always so friendly and so nice. I've known Joe and Bettie for so long. It was so nice that he called her the dancing queen. I was just talking to my son, Vaile, about Bettie and Joe and we called the old phone number but it was disconnected. We tried to look them up on the internet and found his obituary. We are so sorry to have missed the opportunity to speak with both of you. Bettie, please give me a call if you can at 208-514-3148. All my love,
Cathy Shelton

I remember Joe and his wife from the physical fitness and yoga class I taught. They were both such warm and kind people. He always had a beautiful smile for everyone, and will be missed by many.
