Judy was a great friend. She was easy to talk to and I enjoyed our regular get-togethers at various restaurants around town. She was a classy lady with a love for animals. Thank you, Judy, for enriching my life!

When I think of Judy, I hear her little laugh and see her sweet smile. I picture her at the front of a classroom at Grossmont College, where I took her class in Creative Non-Fiction Writing. Judy, as we all called her, was a gentle soul with a passion for the written word. She had a true heart for helping people find their own voice. In my own writing, she helped me dig deep into the core of the story or essay I was composing. Judy had the compassion of a genuine counselor; she would often slip off her eyeglasses and place them on her desk while listening to students read their work in class. I missed her on campus when she retired, and now I will miss being able to run across her around town. That makes me doubly glad that I saved all my papers and essays on which she wrote her comments and suggestions. Judy gave with all her heart, the essence of a teacher who cared for her students. Thanks be to God for her life and influence on lovers of the written word. Because of her, I have kept writing.

Judy was a quiet, gentle soul, considerate of others and always seemed a happy person. I enjoyed her company socially and sought her out especially when I wanted to talk literature or poetry. I felt a kinship with her as a fellow writer... and I will miss her deeply.
