Russell Erickson Obituary

Erickson, Russell D. CARLSBAD -- Russ was born May 13, 1916 in Chisholm, Minnesota. He enlisted in the USCG in 1937 and served until 1969 as Commander. Among the first to arrive after the bombing of Hiroshima, he received a Bronze Star and other awards for bravery. A devoted family man, Russ cared for his first wife Dorothy who died in 1969. He was loving father to Jane, Susy and Lucy, and loving husband to his wife Eileen. He was a devout Lutheran, jack of all trades, first to volunteer, but ever modest. Sailing and wood working were joys in his life. Dad, we'll think of you whenever we walk on the beach, look at the moon or hear a bird sing. You are in our heart and you left us with your legacy of serving the Lord and your beautiful wooden masterpieces.
Thank you for your joy and loving devotion!
