I knew Julian in the early 1980s during his time in Toronto with the National Ballet. I met him through a mutual friend of his that he was close to at that time. We were young artists setting off on our careers, mine being the visual arts. Times were tough as we were at the beginning of our careers. We spent late nights dancing at clubs and many shared pot luck dinners with friends, enjoying life. Julian set off for NYC to Dance with Martha Graham. My fondest memory was his return to Toronto with Martha Graham to dance at the O´Keefe Centre. He arranged tickets for us and he brought us backstage at the end of the performance to meet her. It was thrilling and a memory I have treasured all my life. Julian was a good man, always ready to help out and he was always interested in what others were doing. He was very supportive and encouraging, attending my openings back then. Over the years we lost touch, but those memories and stories will always be treasured. My best to you and all your family. I will always remember Julian with a smile.

For Julian's family, I haven't been a student for about 11 years as we moved to LA about then. Julian was amazingly talented and motivational- a joy to be with. My husband and I were students for about 2 years. He made a clear and huge difference in our lives, both physically and emotionally. We were so sad to hear of your loss.

I can't imagine that that voice of my long time friend won't be on the other end of the phone line exchanging silly stories as we had as roommates in NYC as dancers and all along our lives for over 30 yrs
I was older but I learned so much from Julian
He was my role model for most of my adult life
I remember when he and carol started dating when we were on tour in Paris
I remember being a groomsman in his wedding
I remember his laugh
His talent his loyalty his kindness
He taught me about family and goodness and friendship and most of all love
Life will never be the same again
He was a great man in the top three of the great men I have known in my life
I can't believe he's gone and I can't believe I will never see him again
My heart breaks for Carol precious friend wife and mom and Sammy and Tommy
May God be with you three comfort you all the days of your lives
Good by sweet prince

Julian Littleford was my best friend and buddy for over 30 years. We met dancing together for the Martha Graham Dance Company in New York where Julian was to become a Principal Dancer and I the company's Rehearsal Director. We have been part of each other's lives throughout the years as we went on to other cities, jobs, families and communities, but we always made time to see each other and share our thoughts and feelings on life, love, business, relationships, religion, politics and everything else including the kitchen sink. Just the sight of each other would cheer us up tremendously because we each lit up something inside each other. We were brothers, we were pals. We loved each other unconditionally, and we were proud of what each had accomplished and achieved, and supported each other in times of hardship. We loved to talk about our dancing days, the old times, and all of the friends and dancers we had known together, and I was always grateful to be included as a member of his immediate family with his beautiful wife Carol, and children Samantha and Thomas. No doubt he will be remembered for his insightful and creative contributions to the Pilates community, but I will always hold him in my heart for the love and friendship which he offered to me so unquestioningly and so generously, and for which I hope I was able to return a fraction of to him.
