Heartfelt sympathy to Dave's family & friends ... I include myself in that wonderful circle of Caballero friends of Dave's ... He leaves an empty space, where once there was a joyful participant. Via con Dios, my friend ...

Debbie, Jake and Natalie,

My (Galen) friendship with Dave began in 1993 when he asked me to ride with him to Sacramento to see the Director of the Department of Corrections. In the ensuing work years we interacted with each other almost on a daily basis. Our friendship expanded when we began to do 5-day deep sea fishing trips, bird hunts, local salmon fishing and enjoy each others company on a social basis. He was always there for me for work issues and personal/medical issues. I could always count on a call from him saying, "if you're home, do you want me to drop some fish by" or "Galen, did you hear about....".

My (Linda) friendship with Dave started in Business Services in 1987. He was my boss, my representative at hearings, my friend away from work. Whenever he entered my office, his smile greeted me and his positive words were always there. He was always there for me to call for anything.

We will both miss his calls and our many outings together. We will remember his smile, his laugh, his everlasting loyalty as a friend.

Warm Thoughts,
Galen & Linda Kirn

To Dave's family,
I worked with Dave for over 30 years at CMC and he was always open-minded, professional, fair, and good for a laugh when needed. He mentored many of us over the years. He and his work ethics will be hard to replace in this profession. He will be missed by so many friends and family, for his friendship and love of life. Our prayers go out to his family. Rest in peace, Dave.

Daves family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you in this lost. Dave always had a smile and was dedicated to his family and friends. He was a caring and loyal person. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

To Daves family,
We knew Dave thru the wood business.
He bought wood from us and helped cut up huge tree for us.
We were shocked to hear of his passing and send out best wishes to his family
in this time of great sorrow.

Dave and I shared so many good times together at CMC. We were selected to represent the Dept in adverse actions taken against employees who were appealing and they were represented by union attorneys. Dave was instrumental in dealing with professional demeanor in our many court cases. This was a unpleasant assignment that neither of us requested or wanted however Warden Estelle recognized talent and the work ethic that Dave excelled in all of his assignments. Dave was a strong competitor in every thing he did. Strong Pitcher on our softball team, avid fisherman and hunter. We both loved the Dodgers and attended many games together and when Dave was unable to attend he gave me the season tickets that his sister would supply. Dave Donated his blood to my new born daughter when we were desperate for his blood type and he literally saved her life. I will always be indebted to Dave and will never forget the time we shared. My condolences to his family as he will be missed dearly. Jack Hixon Paso Robles

I was shocked and saddened when I heard of Dave's passing. I will always remember the softball we played together and the time you took a line drive off your forehead. I will remember you helping me at work making my job there a little easier. I wish your family well and may God bless them all in this hard time. Rest in peace my friend.
