I thought, "What a great guy," when I first met Alan and also thought - "Wow, how lucky for her that they found each other." I was really happy for her when I heard they'd married. My heart hurts for you now, Carol Ann, and for everyone whose life he touched and who loved him too.
Sending my condolences and love to you.

What a wonderful (and mischievous) sense of humor Alan had. He played a few "good ones" on me. What a joy for living!
I have known Carol since high school. Sadly my husband and I didn't get to know Alan very well as we were only with him about 4 times since they married. We remember Alan as being interesting to talk with and a true gentleman. It was not until I spent a week with Carol after his passing that I realized just how remarkable he was. Reading the many tributes to him by fellow teachers and students made me realize that he was an exceptional human being. The effect he had on so many lives is truly amazing. We are happy that Carol and Alan had such a wonderful life together but are so incredibly sad at his passing. All our love goes out to Carol today and every day. Wishing her peace.Nancy & Terry Coffin
So many fun times at Tablas Creek events with both Alan and Carol Ann. I remember a time when you both rode your bikes to an event and everyone was in awe that you make the trek there and back. Alan was a gentle soul and we really enjoyed your company. Many memories and many laughs and smiles. Good times. Fun times. We will sincerely miss Alan, but so happy to have known him. Hugs to you Carol Ann.
My thoughts are with you and your family during these difficult times. I know that my brother Brad enjoyed Alan's friendship immensely. He will always be fondly remembered.

When we moved to the Los Osos, Alan and Carol Ann were our first neighbors! We were blessed to have him in our lives...
I will miss seeing you in Cayucos on Friday mornings in the summer. Always looked forward to our friendly chats.
We love you . Thank you so much for your friendship. Alan, you are in our hearts forever.

Alan and I shared much of our childhood together. He is my favorite cousin. It is such a tragedy for his life to be cut short and it is such a huge loss to his family and friends.
Our lives are emptier at his passing, but fuller for having known him. I learned something from him every time I was with him. He is sorely missed.
