For 65 years I have intended to look up Ron and tell him the story of his impact on my life. Now I find that I waited too long and must share this with his family. When I was 9 yrs. old I wandered over to the SCHS upper baseball field looking for something to do. Ron was there waiting for friends to shag flies and practice with. He was a senior at SCHS then and a star athlete that I was in awe of. He walked right up to me and asked if I would play catch with him. As we tossed the ball back and forth for the next 20 min. or so he asked me about my interests and just made pleasant conversation. Later, when his friends arrived he thanked me for helping him warm up and spending time with him. That kindled an inner glow that I still remember at age 75. It was such a meaningful act of kindness I told myself I would always remember this and try to pass it on to others as well. I taught and coached swimming and later became a junior high teacher for 35 years. Always in my role as coach and teacher I remembered Ron's gift to me and made sure every child I encountered knew that they mattered to me.
Yours is a very special family--I later played on the Elks Yankees with Ron's younger brother, Billy, who was every inch a kind, generous, and gifted individual--just like his brother. I hope that the sorrow of Ron's passing is softened by the memory that Ron made a powerful impact on thousands of lives in just the kind and thoughtful way he lived his life.

My condolences to Marylin and family. Ron was my mentor as a young coach in the late 60's and early 70's. He gave me direction and inspired me. I am very grateful.

I am so pleased to have known Ron for the past 40 years. A true gentleman and friend to many. My thoughts are with Marilyn and the Boys as they play this last ballgame with the Coach. Ron will be remembered for many things but the biggest legacy of them all is the family he has left behind, they all exude the values that Ron and Marilyn embraced. We are blessed to have known Ron and blessed that we have the extended family still with us.

I played for coach Walters at Soquel in 70'-71'. Great coach and great man. My sincere condolences to the family. He will be sorely missed.
