Ginger and Johnny,
I was extremely heartbroken upon hearing the news that Carrie had passed.
Our lifelong bond began in high school when Johnny sold me his '69 Firebird. She was really upset because she loved that car and drove it everywhere. When I had it, one day she asked me if she could drive it. I said sure. I could see in her eyes she needed to feel that rush again. The rush of speed and power. After that, I would let her drive it whenever she wanted. She could really handle that car. Sometimes we would drive around for hours. It didn't matter where we went, we'd just go. We had awesome conversations.
Years later when the car was in an accident, I took one keepsake from it. It was the gear shift knob. She was so incredibly happy when I gave it to her on her birthday. When I last saw her around 2 years ago she said she still had it and proudly displays it on a shelf back home. She loves telling stories to her friends when they ask "what's that"?
Carrie, thank you for sharing your car and your heart with me. Those long drives are some of the best memories of my life. You'll always be my true friend and I will deeply miss you. "Keep it under 95".
Ginger and Johnny, my thoughts and prayers are with you both during this tough time. Please know that Carrie is happy and that she is with John Sr.
