An inspiring teacher. I remember her fondly and regret I didn't stay in touch. Condolences to her family.
Mrs. Germanas holds a very special place in my heart, as I know she does for so many of her former students. In rereading the journal I kept for her high school English class (while cringing, smiling, and tearing up at the things I wrote as a very sad teenager), I am struck by how wise and compassionate her comments in the margins of the pages still ring to me today. I remember so many of the funny and perceptive things she said in class, after class, in passing her on campus, in visits to her classroom after I had graduated. Her class was my homeroom class in 11th grade, and every morning, after the obligatory reciting of the pledge of allegiance, she had us all turn to face a small poster of the globe, to which we recited a different pledge: this one was a pledge of allegiance to the world, to cherish every living thing. Mrs. Germanas was extraordinary. I hope she knows, wherever she is now, how dear she will always be to me.
An excellent teacher and human being. I still remember notes she jotted in the margins of my journal in 11th grade… still remember her taking the time to make us form a circle so we could read in a circle--instead of a row…. My love of literature--now a lifelong passion--was nourished deeply in that portable classroom on the outskirts of Santa Fe High… She had a profound understanding of the art of teaching and the art of living.
My friend Egle that showed me how to appreciate simple things leaving a simple life, love you. I know you are in peace.
Egle was the perfect combination of mentor, neighbor, friend. My condolences to Kas and Nida, as well as to the Germanas and Tumasonis families.
Egle, you will be greatly and profoundly missed. Your smile always seemed to say, "you are perfect just the way you are." I feel so blessed to have known you not only as an exceptional teacher, but as an amazing mother figure who carried me through many high school and college experiences. You raised an absolutely amazing daughter and I am forever grateful to you Kas for her. May you and your beautiful family be surrounded by light and angels tomorrow. You will be in my heart and I will be present in spirit. I love you all.

I will honestly say that I haven't thought of Mrs. Germanas in many years, but the impact of finding out about her loss hit me very hard, reminding me of the impact that she had on me when I had her class during the 1987-88 school year. I offer my condolences to her family and a thank you to her for helping me to nurture my love of literature.
I met Egle as a pre-schooler when she and Kes rented a home from my family. Years later I was honored to have her for English at SFHS. I took her career advice to heart and it changed my entire direction as well as my understanding of the reasons to pursue a career. What a wonderful teacher. My life is far better for having known her. Rest in peace, Ms. Germanas.
I enjoyed Mrs. Germanas' class as a junior at SFHS. Her class was always fun and it was one that I always enjoyed. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and inspiring your students. May God Bless You and your family.
Words can hardly express how inspirational and caring of a person Mrs. Germanas was to me and how she stood out in her teaching style - truly the best. I remember interacting with her in 11th grade English like it was yesterday. I can still hear "Mr. Fine!..." as she would refer to us by our last names, a trademark of hers. We shared the experience of living in the hills of Tesuque. She encouraged me to push myself and excel beyond high school and even convinced me to display my photography in her classroom. She opened our eyes to "Catcher in the Rye" and the Salem witch trials among other material. She challenged me to take on "Moby Dick" and introduced me to "In Cold Blood" knowing in advance I would love it. That stuck with me and I have since visited the house where the story took place. She was one of a kind, an exceptional person and teacher and I will forever be inspired and moved by the memory of her. Mrs. Germanas, may you be in a wonderful place now, much like the Tesuque Hills.
An inspiring woman, and one of the most phenomenal teachers I've ever encountered.
Mrs. Germanas was a Wonderful Teacher, I enjoyed her class. Prayers and Blessings to her Family & Friends.
Mrs. Germans was one of the best teachers I ever had. She taught so much more than just English. She was warm, friendly, and so beautiful. My father, Benito Rael, also a teacher at SFHS told me if I ever aspired to be like anyone, it should be Egle Germanas. I truly loved her.
Egle was a friend of the family for many many years. We grew up knowing her as part of the family. Thank you for the kindness you shared with my Mom and Dad (David and Julia). Rest in Peace Dearest Egla.
Egle Germanas was a wonderful teacher and friend. She introduced me to Hawthorne in a way that I will forever cherish. Prayers for the entire family

Mrs. Germanas will forever have a cherished place in my heart. She was an amazing teacher with a gift of genuineness, compassion, humility, and humanity.
Egle Germanas was such an amazing teacher..she got through to me when I was in my dark and rebellious years, substituting Edgar Allan Poe and Sylvia Plath for Robert Frost and Emily Dickinson. She allowed me to push the envelope and create my own assignments. She inspired me. She was a true example of the power a teacher can have in your life and I will be forever grateful. Rest in peace Mrs. Germanas.
She was my next door neighbor in Tesuque for over 10 years. What an absolutely precious soul. Much love to Kas and Nida, prayers and candles...
Mrs. Germanas was a wonderful colleague at Santa Fe High School. She was a paragon of kindness, gentleness, and wisdom. My condolences to her family.
Mrs. Germanas was my 9th and 11th grade English teacher at SFHS back in the 80's. She was such a kind and gentle soul. I'm deeply saddened to hear of her passing. I will never forget her. My prayers and sympathy to her family.
Mrs. Germanas was an excellent instructor and encouraged my pursuit of higher education as a junior in her English class at SFHS. I admired and respected her greatly. My condolences to her family.
Mrs. Germanas was my 11th grade English teacher at SFHS. Her love of reading spilled over into her teaching and her reading assignments opened up the world for so many of us as she encouraged us to pursue our dreams. May you find comfort knowing that this beautiful lady helped to shape so many young lives for the better.
I have the most wonderful memories of Junior English class with Mrs. Germanas. My heartfelt condolences to her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
Mrs. Germanas was a fabulous teacher! I was so fortunate to be her student. My sister enjoyed her class so much that she encouraged me to take her class. The words on the page came alive in her class and prompted me to be an avid reader. Mrs. G. taught me to thoroughly enjoy writing. She challenged our vocabulary and our minds. Yes, Mrs. Germany's was one of my all time favorite teacher. My sincere condolences to her family. Thank you for sharing her with us. SFHS '82.
