My papa Bill ,
I wish I had gotten to see you. I wish I had gotten to be at your memorial service. You were the best "grandfather" in this world. The most consistent man in my life. I will miss you but know you're in a better place and no longer suffer. I love you always

I'll always love my Uncle Bill. He was my hero and always treated me with respect. His sense of humor was subtle and brilliant; his intelligence profound ... because he was a voracious reader and a larger than life character among humanity. Those who knew him have their own stories, and oh the stories we could tell. I'll always hold his memory dear because even though I had my flaws, he always treated me with kindness. And even though he had his flaws, they were only reminders of his humanity and understanding. One of the truest and most reassuring thoughts he ever shared was when he once said, "We've all done something we're ashamed of." Maybe there are some out there who've never done something they're ashamed of, but if my hero Uncle Bill did and could admit it, then I guess I could, too.
