E. Maxine MatthewsBALLSTON SPA - E. Maxine Matthews, 90 passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 25, 2018. Born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on July 25, 1927, she was the daughter of William and Cora Wallace.Maxine was the manager of Vita-Mart in Ballston Spa for many years. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and served as president of the American Legion Post 234 Ladies Auxiliary in Ballston Spa. Maxine was an avid NY Yankees and NY Giants fan. Her family was her greatest joy and she treasured the time she spent with them.She was predeceased by her husband John and her five siblings. Maxine is survived by her children Lawrence Matthews (Carol) of Ballston Lake, John Matthews (Fran) of Gansevoort and Susan Matthews-Farrigan (Matthew) of Ballston Lake; grandchildren Amanda Matthews, Brad Matthews, Kennie Farrigan (Jennifer), Donal Farrigan and Natalie Farrigan, great granddaughter Evelyn Farrigan; sisters in law Betty Wallace and Maureen Tremblay; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held 9:30am Tuesday, January 30 at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. Burial will follow in St Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, January 29 from 5pm to 7pm at the funeral home.Memorial contributions in memory of Maxine may be made to American Legion Post 234, 23 Pleasant Street, Ballston Spa, NY 12020.Online remembrances may be made at www.armerfuneralhome.com
