12-5-17. My sister, Donna, & I buried our mother, Anne Stewart, along the side of our father, Charles, on 12-2-17 at Bonaventure cemetery in Savannah. Family & a few of their dearest friends were present. They will be side by side forever now, as they were all their lives. Even their cat, Cece's, ashes were in their urns. They were buried right below our dear brother, Lee. Hospice Savannah did a wonderful memorial on 12-1-17 honoring our mother. Donna was instrumental in organizing the program. Our mother founded Hospice Savannah & served as the first executive director. Donna & I talk alot about our parents. We laugh & shed tears. We were so lucky to have them for almost 65 years. We will be forever grateful for their love & shaping us for who we are. We love & miss you mom & dad !

Debbie and Donna, your loss is profound. I hope you will find that your parents are still close at hand for you. I often see signs of my parents in the things around me. Just wearing some piece of clothing they wore brings them close. I hope you will share memories of your folks with others that did not know them, so they can learn how much they touched the lives of others fortunate enough to know them.

You mother's legacy will always live on through her good work of helping to bring hospice services to Savannah. I had the pleasure of meeting your Mother on several occasions and found her to be a remarkable woman. I am proud to follow in her foot steps as CEO of Hospice Savannah and feel blessed to have the honor to help continue carrying out her vision for end of life care. My you find peace in your wonderful memories.

Anne Stewart was a dynamic and forward thinking civic leader. She was committed to making life better for others and we need more like her. Donna and Debbie, my sincerest condolences at this time. I am sure your mother's strength of will and love will live on through you and your families.

Dear Debbie and Donna,
I will cherish the wonderful memories I have of spending time with your family throughout my life. I am proud Anne was my aunt. I wish you peace and strength.

As one of the daughters of Anne Stewart, words can never adequately explain how fortunate my siblings were to be raised by my parents, Anne & Charles Stewart, unless you knew them. We all looked to my mother for her great wisdom, guidance, strength, care & her listening ear. Our family always had meals together. We talked. My father was a hard working man for his family & so wise about business matters. He used to say "tell us all about it" when we'd come home during a college break. My parents interest in our lives never ended. My twin sister & I were born prematurely in Hawaii to my parents, then in their early 20s. We, along with my mother, were very ill. It was questionable if we three would even survive. But, the doctor later told my mother, had she not taken us home from the hospital, my sister & I may not have survived. It was her love & care. Over the years, I thanked her many times for that care. My mother was a wonderful, caring woman. I am so proud of my family. We were so fortunate and loved. I really miss both my parents, who died just 3 weeks apart this month. My mother wanted to be with my dad & it's okay that she let go. And to the city of Savannah, you were so lucky that this woman was so invested in you during her life. She cared for you, too. I love & miss you, mom. I know you are with dad, Lee and Cece now.
