She told me I could sing....A beautiful soul that was committed to children's musical experience.

I shall miss her and remember her always. Not only was she a person I called friend, but a mentor and neighbor. Theresa Moir.

Kenneth Brown and Brenda Jones loved our chorus class. We treasured our teacher and the gift that she gave us both. She will never be forgotten. ..Kenneth Brown and Brenda L. Jones, Jackson-Brown Class of 1980 SCJ

WOW! i would be remiss, if I didn't share the impact that Mrs. Schmidt had on me and my closest friends at Sol. C. Johnson. She gave many impoverished students, with nothing to look forward to, a sincere appreciation for music and helped discover the passion within. She taught us how to communicate our appreciation through sharing and expression. Many of our children grew to become musicians because of what she deposited in us...Thank You Mrs. Schmidt, I don't have to say how much we love you and look forward to seeing you on "the other side".

She was a great musician and a beautiful lady. You will be missed by all who knew you, but you have left a legacy behind and your family will be proud. You even taught me something about music in my later years. We love you, Mrs. Schmidt and Heaven is richer because of you!

Mrs. Schmidt is that one teacher for whom I feel the greatest loss at her passing. I was in the SCJ choir from 1976 through 1980 and was humbled that she allowed me to be the accompanying pianist for the choir, and she even gave me free lessons as long I was willing to learn. We really were in the "Best Darn Choir" and we had a blast! She really loved her work and it showed in everything she did and in the students that she taught. I think she affected everyone in a positive way who had the opportunity to learn under her tutelage. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Dear Margaret and Family,
I was a co worker of Dottie`s at Johnson High for many years. She was an excellent music instructor. My son, Kyle was in her chorus and "show choir.
She did an excellent job with her music students.May she rest in peace.

I was in chorus and show choir at Johnson High School. I absolutely loved Mrs. Schmidt! Her passion and love for music was contagious. I currently lead worship and the children's choir at my church.
Praying for the Schmidt family.
