I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Stefan will never be forgotten.

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I'm home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I'm only a civilian
And I don't even know if it's allowed

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn't make it home.
I know you're in God's presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

I Salute You.

Dear Stefan Smith,
I know you will never read this. I know your family may never read this. I did not have the honor of ever knowing you or your beautiful family. I don't know where you came from what kind of man you where or who you would have been if this war hadn't taken you away from those that love you most. However I do know that your life has had more of an effect on people than I have seen in a long time. I was humbled to see the thousands of people that showed up outside that church to welcome you home. Your sacrifice brought a community together in support of your family, your brothers in arms, and your country in a way I have never seen. I promise you that your community is doing everything they can to reach out to your wife and children. They will never want for anything ever again. At least that is my hope and my prayer that this community never forgets and never stops appreciating your sacrifice. As an army wife I am numb to the high stakes of your careers, of the sacrifice of the family, and of the hard life we live. We become so accustomed to everything I think we have forgotten just how special you all truly are. How blessed we are as a society to have people like you willing to stand up and give their lives for what is right. You made me appreciate my fathers service and my husabnds service as well as the service of men and women all over this country in a way I never truly have. So all though I never knew you, I want you and your family to know you changed my life forever. I am so thankful that your family gave me and countless others the honor of standing outside that church to welcome you home. Thank you for everything.
Sincerely,
SB

THE GARDEN

Today I walked thru a garden of stone, I could tell that it was planted with love, as I walked I saw a flower being planted with love and watered with tears. I felt a peace as the flower was carried from the car, draped in a cloth of red, white and blue.

For today is the day a soldier returned home, from a land far away. To be honored by a grateful nation, for his job is done, and he may rest in this garden of stone, with those that came before him, lined up in formation as the bugle played taps, and the rifles echoed there last shot, for this is the last formation the soldier shall have, for his job is done.

Tomorrow will bring another flower to this garden of stone, it to will be planted with love, just as the ones before it.

For this is our nations greatest treasure, it is the soldier that paid the greatest cost for our nations freedom.
