Just learned this sad news from Chemistry Dept web page. Rest in peace Professor Shawe. You will always live in my memories.
My prayers and thoughts are offered up for my sweet cousin, Tom. We had such fun together as children, and we loved talking about the Atlanta Braves and all the wonders of nature. He was so very wise and we shared a love for teaching. My deepest condolences to his wife and family. Find a porch swing, Tommy, and bend Pappy's ear until I'm with you once more.
Professor Shawe was truly an incredible professor and an asset to Bucknell. Organic Chemistry is notoriously difficult subject, and yet with Prof. Shawe's instruction and lots of help in office hours, the class was enjoyable and I gained a superior understanding of the subject matter. I credit Prof. Shawe's instruction for playing a large part in my admission to medical school. Thoughts with friends and family in this difficult time.
My deepest sympathy to Tommy's Family.
I, too, was a classmate of Tommy's at Blessed Sacrament and Benedictine. He was always a gracious and welcoming friend and a brilliant, yet humble student.
We are saddened by his passing.
So sorry to hear of this. Memory eternal!
Such very sad news. We were very close in high school and I never would have made it through college chemistry without his him. Adulthood has a way of separating once close friends as it did with us. Rest in peace, Chairman.
Tommy was my best friend from first grade through eigth at Blessed Sacrament. I have many good memories of playing football, riding bikes and getting into trouble with Tommy. God rest his soul. We had gone our separate ways at BC, but great to hear what a full & rewarding life he lived. My deepest condolences to his family.
