Well, I'm devastated to say the least upon learning of my dear friend and mentor Clyde Benton. I joined the first campus security at Hinds Jr. College under the supervision of Mr. Benton, went on to Mississippi College and ultimately taught on a "B" certificate at the Mississippi State School for the Blind while attending MC. Mr. Benton encouraged me, mentored me and even hired me. I shall be forever grateful to him for having believed in me and it is to his credit in large measure that I have enjoyed an abundance of successes in my life. I retired in the Senior Executive pay grade within the U.S. Secret Service and due to my frequent travel and transfers I lost contact with him. Carol was also my dear friend and I am saddened to learn that she, too, has passed on. A great, wonderful and gentle "Southern Gentleman".... God Bless his memory!

I owe much to Mr. Benton in view of his patience and kindness during the first twelve years of my professional life. I worked as a teacher and counselor at the Mississippi School f/t Blind, lived on campus and enjoyed being a part of the school and community. I remember you. Letha, as a very young girl following closely to your dad wherever he went on campus. I regret that I did not have the opportunity to maintain contact with you guys as I continued my career in Alabama. I would like to have thanked Mr. Benton once again for giving me a much needed meaningful start in my life. Wish you and your family the very best. (Mr. O')

While words fail to capture the pain of losing a loved one, we look forward to the time when words will fail to capture the joy of having our heavenly Father return your dear one to you. We hope these words can be & are a source of comfort for you & your family.
