I am visiting my Dad at Marsh View for Thanksgiving and am saddened to hear of John's passing. Praying for John's family and friends. The loss is definitely felt among the residents and staff at Marsh View. I enjoyed my conversations with John about books, fossils, and many other subjects. He was always excited to share his wealth of knowledge with anyone who was interested! What a sweet man.

I remember John mostly as a young child, playing with my brother, Edward. He was totally enchanted with flowers at that period, and was so cute to watch in his excitement. He was such a sweet little boy.

What a sweet and talented man! I always enjoyed John's cheerful demeanor, and hearing his animated descriptions about his latest fossil find. John was always God's faithful servant, and he never strayed from the path of righteousness. What a beautiful soul...well done, young man! Enjoy your rest from this weary world.

Mary,Shelly, and all who loved John. I will always remember him. I learned how to ride his bike on the driveway at your house. Such a little thing but it meant a lot to me. My prayers are with you.

Not only did John march to the beat of a different drummer, he was that drummer who provided the different beat and there was nobody like him; the quintessential Savannah character.
