On behalf of my dad, my brother and sister, we are very sorry to hear of the passing of your father. He was a larger than life figure to us when we used to vacation at Margaret and Elmer's farm every summer. We were in awe of your mom and dad's ability to drive over 30 hours to the farm from California after we were beat after a 6 hour drive from Chicago. Your dad also introduced us to the great game of golf. I still remember him hitting golf balls in the front yard of the farm and how far the golf ball would travel. As a young boy, I thought it was pretty cool. Golf has become a big part of our family's lives as my brother, my son and I play golf almost every weekend. My son was also a top high school and collegiate golfer and I have been a HS golf coach for over 18 years. Your dad had a lot to do with us taking up the game. We also remember our 1978 cross-country vacation to California when your dad was very generous with his time and let us keep our camper in his driveway. He also loaded us with plenty of e-tickets for our trip to Disneyland. We were going to send flowers for tomorrow's services, but instead our family will make a donation to the Hospice of Northern Iowa in your dad's name. Again, we are very sorry to hear of his passing. Sincerely,
Richard, Jim, Sue, Dan Borel and families
