I feel fortunate indeed to have met Mary only a few short years ago. After I retired, hers was the very first OLLI class I attended and I still remember it as the one against which all of the others I have taken are compared. I was so impressed by the research, planning, organization and humor she brought to her class on women in early American history. Then a few short months later, I found that both she and Winnie were members of a book club that I decided to join. So I have been lucky enough to share their humor, kindness and historical insights there as well. And I have taken additional OLLI classes from both Mary and Winnie and they were terrific as well.
I love the picture that has been selected for this memorial because it captures Mary's sweet smile, with just the touch of Irish humor that always seemed to be hiding in the corners of her personality.
My sincere condolences to Winnie and the other members of Mary's family during this sad time.
