Marie was born on May 27, 1922 in Cold Spring, Minnesota to the late Peter and Theresa (Wambach) Pflepsen. She married John Abel on November 30, 1939 at St. Mary's Cathedral in St. Cloud. John and Marie enjoyed their long and loving marriage in the St. Cloud area, last residing at Rolling Ridge Road. She was especially proud of her years working at the St. Cloud Credit Bureau, with her brother Peter at the Sanitary Market and DeZurik Corp. She was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church, the Legion of Mary, and St. Francis Mission Group.
In Marie's younger days, her life was very involved with raising five boys. Her sewing, cooking, and crafting skills were known by all her family and friends. Marie is greatly loved and will be sorely missed by all people her life has touched.
Marie is survived by her sons, Richard (Susan) of Plymouth, Thomas (Marlene) of St. Cloud, Robert (Nikki) of St. Cloud, William (Kathy) of Plymouth and Wallace (Suzanne) of St. Cloud; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and brother, Wally Pflepsen of Melbourne Beach, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John on August 4, 1993; brothers and sisters, Ed, Neil, Peter, Alex, Arne, Nick, Robert, Leona McDonald, and Barb Stotko.
A Special Thank You to the Staff of Sterling Park Healthcare Center and St. Cloud Hospital Hospice for the exceptional care given to Mother during her stay.
