Allen Neman was my 9th grade Algebra I and Art teacher at Vilseck Jr. High School in Vilseck, Germany during the 1962-63 school year. He also took me to the USAEUR Science Fair in Frankfurt in early 1963 when I placed first in the Vilseck Science Fair. An exciting trip riding in his VW beetle on the Autobahn after only having travelled before in a big American station wagon!
I've never been any teacher's outstanding student and I certainly wasn't Mr. Neman's! But, his patience and encouragement was key in getting me through Algebra I and providing me with a big dose of “math confidence” and the inspiration to earn advanced degrees in electrical engineering and finance. No better gift has a student ever received from a teacher!
My heartfelt condolences to his family.

Al will be remembered always. Whenever I hear a good "pun" I will think of him. He always had a smile and his laughter would make your day.
Our thoughts are with Alice and Christopher.
