Dennis Brannan Obituary

Dennis C. Brannan

Dennis passed away unexpectedly on New Year's Day, 2014 at the age of 74. He was born October 6th, 1939 in Yakima, Washington, where he graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1958. Dennis was a talented athlete, excelling in football, basketball, and baseball. He graduated from the University of Washington, where he was a member of Theta Chi fraternity. In 1960 he married Anne Edinger, and together they raised their daughters Jenifer and Alison. He began his career as a teacher at Hamilton Junior High School in Seattle, Washington. He then became an airline pilot for many years, beginning with West Coast Airlines, which then became Hughes Airwest, Republic Airlines, and he eventually retired from Northwest Airlines. Being a pilot was the love of his life, and his favorite airplane to fly was the DC-9. His other passions in life included golf, skiing, boating, fishing, traveling, gardening, collecting antiques, and spending time with his beloved daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports, attending Jackson High School games, and he was an avid Husky fan. Dennis was loved by all who knew him, and he was quite a character. He will be dearly missed, and will be forever in our hearts.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Lillian Brannan and his sister, Nancy. He is survived by his daughters Jenifer Brannan Kontyko (Marty) and Alison Brannan Coacher (Tom) and four grandchildren, Kaitlin and Molly Kontyko, and Emily and Denny Coacher.

Services will be held on January 9th at 11:00am at Evergreen Washelli, 11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle. Please visit his guest book at www.Washelli.com/memorials to share memories and stories. All stories are welcome and encouraged.

I hadn't seen Denny in years and just read of his passing in the Air Line Pilot magazine. I well remember hanging out in the Hughes Airwest Flight Ops area at SeaTac airport, laughing with Denny over the latest hot topic. We were both from the Yakima Valley. He was a fun guy to be around. Good grief! Fly Safe Denny

So sorry to hear on Denny's death - Hadn't seen him in over 62 years, but I still remember him as a good friend in high school. Thinking of his daughters and family at this saddest of times.

I will miss his sence of humor and his caring ways with his family and friends. As a young person growing up, I was not at all athletic, and considering that he was a super athlete, he treated me as if it didn't matter to him. I loved him so much, and will always think of him as a brother, and not just an ex-brother-in- law. He is missed!
