Siga, siga FYA and the familiar cadence of my bamboo pole. My 5th grade teacher told me speak softly and carry a big stick. I thought he was talking about my bamboo pole! Atlantic Street, Beacon Hill, the Central District. These were all places that the FYA Drillteam used to practice when I was a kid. I remember Fred yelling commands like "ready Dulcinda chachuwa..." and getting us in formation. We went all over Washington and California competing in parades. That's the legacy that Fred left for me was an increased awareness of my Filipino roots. I will always remember him in his red hat and lanyard marching along side of us down 4th Avenue in a Seafair parade. Fred had a broad reach touching many all over the world not only with the drillteam, but with FAHNS. He made a difference in my life instilling pride in my Filipino Americaness. Siga, siga Fred on your path to heaven. Thank you for all you did. My deepest sympathies, Dorothy and the family. Now is a time to celbrate the brightness of Fred's light.
