Carl has been a formative presence for many at Timber Ridge, including people like me - I'm the daughter of TR residents. I will remember many things he said and stories he told. Here's a good one. He said, "The problem is not the mean, it's the variance." That was Carl's unique way of saying, the "average" quality of something was not bad, but the variance around that average was notable. "It's not the mean, it's the variance." I'll bet he's developing, implementing, and furthering the analytical methods available for enjoyment in heaven. All of this is said with enormous respect and warmth for Carl the person, the intellect, and the humorist.
