To the Family of my friend Thom,
By way of introduction, my name is Mark Hatch, and I knew your Dad during my ten years in Seattle from 1978 - 1988. We met at a home improvement show that took place at Seattle Center. He not only helped us hammer out some details in our home addition and remodel, but we became friends as well. Thom was a fine man and a fine friend. Sadly, I have not been in touch with him for years now, finding out about his passing beyond just now only after doing an online search for him. I was hoping to reconnect, having been reminded of him after hearing of a another friend of mine who has decided to get into bee keeping. I had been a bee keeper myself and joined Thom at his home in Seattle and on several trips out to central Washington where he summered his bees at a friends farm, transporting them to and from his home in Seattle seasonally. I was hoping that I might contact him and say hello and find out what he was up to these days. Alas, I have been sadly met with this news instead. I have had the pleasure of tasting both his home made breads and honey from the hives, benefitted from his talents in the remodel of our home in Ballard, and have borne witness to his creative inventiveness and mechanical skills. I am saddened to hear of his passing and offer my sympathies in your enduring his loss. I hope that you are all doing well with your respective lives and trust that you have and are supporting each other through coming to terms with his loss. I offer a prayer of thanks to The Mystery for my having had the chance to know Thom, and wish him and those that he loved well on their continued and respective journeys. I will live this day in fond remembrance of him. Anyone wishing to contact me may do so at email@example.com Again, with sympathy and fond remembrances...
Respectfully, Mark Hatch
We lived just down the road from Thom and his menagerie. In our house he was known as "Farmer Thom". Our grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed Thom and meeting all his animals. He would take our grandchildren into the barn, and they would come out with warm eggs and a new understanding of animals. They would always ask if we could visit him and the farm when they came from Seattle. Both my husband and I appreciated his gentleness with our grandchildren and his demonstrated love of animals. We will all miss him!
I was very sad to hear of Thom's death. Thom was a good friend of our family and I remember many meals spent with he and my parents. He always had so many interesting things to talk about with his many hobbies. He brought us homemade bread frequently and discussed his plans for remodeling his home and building out at his farm. I will miss him and hope that all your good memories of him help you through this time of sorrow.
Dear Heather and Family,
We were so sorry to here Thom had passed away. He was such a dear friend to my dad and our family. We've been thinking of you and hope that your memories will carry you through this time of sadness. He will be missed!
