It was always a pleasure whenever either Stu or Rita would pop into Logan Lumber, where I worked for many years. Always friendly, always upbeat. Never saw either of them in anything resembling a bad mood. Whenever, years later, I would run into him at QFC I always addressed him as "Hizzoner The Mayor". A good man, and I will miss his laugh.

I first met Stu blocking the Scratch ticket machine at Fred Meyers about 6 months ago. I asked him if this was his way of preventing others from getting the winning ticket. He moved and laught. The next day I went to Safeway on 312th and there he was blocking the Scratch machine. I asked him if this was all he did. We laught and started talking about what we each did. This went on over the months with us running into each other either at Fred Meyers or Safeway. I, also lost my wife in 2008. We enjoyed talking and joking with each other. I am at either place 4 to 5 times a week as well as costco. The last week i did notk run into him and was wondering what was going on. Then I got the Sunday paper and there he was which was a great
surprise to me and filled me with sadness as I felt that I had just lost a good friend. He has a good man and will be missed by those who came in contact with him. I know I will.
