Liebste Hille,
Ich muss dir schreiben, es tut sehr weh, dieses neue Jahr ohne dich zu leben und es vergeht kein Tag, wo ich nicht mit all meiner Liebe an dich denke.ich konnte dich begleiten bis zu deinem Tod, Tag und Nacht lag oder war ich neben dir und das war sehr schoen, aber auch schmerzhaft. Nun muss ich ohne dich weitergehen, aber du bist fuer immer in meinem Herzen.
Warum müssen Menschen diesen Abschied ertragen?
Vielleicht sehen wir uns wieder???

An Hille

My dearest Hillesister!
Never I could imagine that once there could be a time, where we could never see nor speak to each other. I miss you so much, your love and humor mostly! I am very, very sad !!
I remember a german poem from Eichendorff, that you liked so much and that we often spoke together. I will send it to you together with the picture I painted to this poem. Perhaps somebody may translate it for Eddie and his family.
Here is that poem:


In der Fremde ( Eichendorff )

Aus der Heimat hinter den Blitzen rot,
da kommen die Wolken her.
Aber Vater und Mutter sind lange tot,
es kennt mich dort keiner mehr.

Wie bald,ach wie bald kommt die stille Zeit ,
da ruhe ich auch,und über mir
rauscht die schöne Waldeinsamkeit,
und keiner kennt mich mehr hier.
