Annetta Stone Obituary

Annetta L. Stone, 83, of Windsor, Missouri, formerly of St. Joseph, Mo., died Thursday morning, July 25, 2013, at Windsor Healthcare & Rehabilitation, Windsor, Mo.

She was born April 1, 1930 in Nettleton, MO, the daughter of Russell Axon Hicks and Mary Ann (Davis) HIcks. On May 29, 1948, in St. Joseph, she married Albert Lee Stone and he preceded her in death. On August 10, 1981, in Cameron, Mo., she married Vernon Stone and he also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Stone worked for Noma Lights and Whittacker Cable, both in St. Joseph, Mo., for many years. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Easter Star, participating in both the Whitesville Chapter No. 538 and the King Hill Chapter No. 55. She was a former member of the Deer Park Methodist Church, St. Joseph, Mo. and was currently a member of the Clarksdale United Methodist Church. She also spent many hours volunteering as a cook at various church camps and Boy's and Girl's Club Camps. Sewing, knitting, crocheting afgans and vegetable gardening were also things she enjoyed.

Survivors include a son from her marriage to Albert, Robert E. "Bob" Stone and his wife Joy, Green Ridge, Mo.; Annetta is also survived by the children from her second marriage to Vernon: 3 sons, George Brown, Helena, Montana; Tom Stone, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; Vernon Stone, Jr., St. Charles, Mo.; 4 daughters, Verna Swift, Dale City, Virginia; Cheri Swingle, Milford, Ohio; Donna Petty, Mission, Kansas; Teri Pohlmon, St. Louis, Mo.; 21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph W. Hicks, Kansas City, Mo.; 2 sisters, Marilyn Crass, Versailles, Mo.; Margaret Skidmore, Harrisionville, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, and husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeri Schmidt.

Funeral services will be 9:00 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2013, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Pastor Scott Marchbanks officiating.

Burial will be 2:30 p.m., in the Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, Mo.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., on Sunday afternoon at the Hadley Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Cross Roads Hospice or Windsor Healthcare (to benefit patients and or their families) and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
