Dr. Dwight Anthony Wagenknecht, D.O.
NEVADA — Dr. Dwight Anthony Wagenknecht, D.O., 58, Nevada, MO passed from this life on Monday, May 25, 2015 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO, following a sudden illness. Dwight was born April 8, 1957 in Sedalia, MO to Carol Leroy and Elizabeth Mae (Renno) Wagenknecht. He was united in marriage to Sherry L. Burris on August 11, 1984 in Kirksville, MO and she survives of the home.
Dwight grew up in Cole Camp, MO and attended school there, graduating from Cole Camp High School. Dwight had dreams of becoming a doctor, and following high school he attended Truman State University in Kirksville, MO and then continued his education at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He has practiced in El Dorado Springs, MO and Nevada for the past 10 years as a general surgeon.
In addition to his wife Sherry, survivors include his children; Venessa Heilman and her husband Bob Murry, Columbus, OH, Ryan Heilman and his wife Kelley, Frederick, MD, Serena Wagenknecht, Nixa, MO, Craig Wagenknecht, Nevada, and Erica Wagenknecht, Nevada; grandchildren, Alexander, Isiah, and Abbigail; one sister, Terri Brines and her husband Robert, Sedalia; two brothers, Kevin Wagenknecht and his wife Robin, Sedalia, and Michael Wagenknecht and his wife Melanie, Cole Camp; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dwight was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a quiet, thoughtful man – passionate about the outdoors and fly fishing. His great sense of humor and his laugh will be greatly missed.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Nevada with Rev. Johannes Brann officiating. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
