It's hard to believe it's been a year since that fateful day. I continue to pray for your family, that God would surround them with His angels and give them strength as they carry on. RIP Brother.

To the family of Sgt. 1st Class Trenton Rhea,

Since 2009, our football team has dedicated each of our games to a soldier, who was killed supporting Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom. Our weekly tribute provides a painful reminder of the true meaning of sacrifice. Our players and coaches are very proud of these tributes, and they have become the foundation of our program. Tonight, we open the 2013 season, and we will be playing in honor of Trenton. Our players and coaches will play our hardest, knowing that we are playing for a true hero. I know this is a very painful time for your family, but I hope you find comfort knowing that Trenton continues to inspire others... even a small town football team in Broadway, Virginia. Take care and God Bless.

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Trenton will never be forgotten.

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I'm home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I'm only a civilian
And I don't even know if it's allowed

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn't make it home.
I know you're in God's presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

I Salute You.

Our hearts are heavy as we think about the Rhea family and the pain and heartache this loss is for them. Our son SSG Michael Behrens who is also serving with the 603rd in Afghanistan says he was truly one of the "good guys". We know God has a plan for us but sometimes we truly question His timing. Please know that we and many others are praying for your family and grieving with you. God bless and may peace and strength come to you

Message from my son, Specialist David Beamer, who was serving in the same platoon with Sgt Rhea in Afg: "I have never met a better NCO. He was hands down the best soldier I have ever met. No one was more respected, more knowledgable, or more caring. Dad-he was Audey Murphy and John Basilone all wrapped up in one guy. He belonged in a different era. Should have been in World War 11. He was truly the best. Wish you could have met him."

To the Rhea family:
It was an Honor and Privilege to have met SFC Rhea. He was assigned to our area for approximately 60 days where he came into our office to use our computers. We thought the world of him. He had an open invitation into our work area, but with his character, he asked everyday if he could come in and use the computer. During the many conversations, he loved his family dearly. The day he left us, our hearts broke. God bless the Rhea Family.
