Chas and I were hanging at the dog park in auburn when one day a lovely gentleman with wise funny ways sauntered in to join the 7 am shift of dog lovers. I clearly remember him saying something like "I like you guys, I'll see you again". I can't remember if Chad was already there and of course there was some dog park politics with others (nothing that couldn't be ignored for the betterment of all), so Carl was instant dog park family. A ragged bunch of us passing through while enjoying the company of stories, family tidbits, a tad of politics, but mostly good joy. A great way to start the day. I missed the crew and Carl when I moved away and it's extremely sad to know a piece of our sunrises together are gone. But Carl will always be a part of each sunrise walk with Sierra and Elsa. His imprint on us will always be there.

Dear Diane,
I was so very sad to hear about Carl's passing. I still cannot get my head around it. Larry Kenney notified me a few days after Christmas.. I also heard from Paul Schenebeck. Janet Robinson Robbins sent me Carl's obituary by email.
I just thank my lucky stars that I had the privilege of seeing Carl one more time at the 50th reunion and the extra time spent enjoying his good humor at Paul's and the Chinese restaurant. I know this will be a difficult time for you for awhile. Try to think of Carl laughing and that cannot help but put a smile on your face. You have our sympathies, Adrienne and Al Reeves

I am so sad to hear that we have lost Carl - what a fine man - always with a laugh and always with a smile. I always marveled at his ability to laugh and smile - it sounds easy to do, but it isn't. He brought true happiness to others with his humor, his kindness and the goodness of his heart. Diane, thank you for giving him your love and for being so good to him. I share your tears and your heartache.

I was so very sad to learn today of Carl's passing. Though our meetings were few and far between since high school, any time spent with Carl was a real treat. I was so glad to see him at our 50th reunion where he was his usual warm, sunny self. He will be dearly missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to have known him. My deep condolences to all his family. Sincerely, Carla Silberstein
