I have watched Doug, Kate and Barbara since the 80`s. I am a native of San Francisco and have always watched KPIX even now that I live 50miles away.I was deeply saddened to hear Doug passed away and will always remember him as funny, witty and a good newsman. I have missed seeing him on the weekend news this past year and now will miss him forever. My prayers go out to his family and all at the news station. Thanks for letting me share my thoughts with all of you. Betty Jones Santa Rosa, CA.

I live in Los Angeles now and when I read that Doug had passed, I was shocked and deeply saddened.

Growing up in San Francisco, his face was a constant on our TV. He was a joy to watch. I am so sorry for his family's loss.

I was shocked to hear of Doug's death. We were high school and college classmates and fraternity brothers. I shared an apartment with him for about a year at OSU. He was a great friend and was always fun to be around. He was a real "people person" and he made friends everywhere he went. The last time I saw Doug, he invited me and my family to sit in on an evening newscast. It was great to see that Doug had fulfilled his long time goal of becoming a TV personality. I can see from other guest book comments that Doug was still his old self in spite of his success. My condolences go to his children and family.

I have been in Merced for 7 years but when I lived in the Bay Area, I would watch you and Barbara Rodgers. May God Take Care and Bless You and Your Family. Heaven is waiting and I know you are there. Angels are watching over your children. May you rest in peace

Every day we watch TV to get our news of the world, and over time you get the privilege to have the news presented to you by a real professional. Doug Murphy was one of those. A man who you only knew from TV, but you knew that if you met him you would like him. I recently moved away from the Bay Area after many years of living there, and I always enjoyed watching Doug on Channel 5 whether he was anchoring the weekend newscast, covering the sports desk or giving us his often offbeat stories during the weeknight news shows. My condolences to his family, friends and co-workers. He will be missed.

Mr Murphy, you will be missed. For over 2 decades you have amused many both in public and in private life. You were one of us. You were the humor at the desk. I always suspected shorts and flip flops were part of your attire, hidden but always suspect. I have watched you off and on through your years in the Bay Area. As soon as I returned from another state, I would always turn in to Channel Five news. You and Mac always brought a smile to my face. I felt like I was witnessing a Bay-Area version of a , may I admit it, a Martin-Lewis Las Vegas act. You will be truly missed. Can you imagine the crowd at King X if they weren't closed for remodeling. But I know that the Gods in the heavens are in their big black easy chairs getting the news and sports by the best.

God Speed,
Leisa & Scott

I'll miss running into Doug at the local bagel shop and around town. Maddy & Jack, you have so many folks in our town who are thinking about you. Saying a prayer for each of you.
