I have only just learned of Con's passing. My condolences to all of you. I will always remember his twinkling eyes.
Margaretha Carter (nee Payne)
Con Murphy was always my favorite Chief. I very much liked the first three I worked for and the not quite last one. Con was the first to be a friend before being Chief. My best memories of him are the professional manner in which he handled the Democratic National Convention in 1984 and the dinner that the Italian-American members of our department had to assist the Nation of Italy after a serious earthquake. Con, wearing an Italian hat, came over to Barbara (now wife of 53 years) and me and we had a pleasant visit. That was the only time that he and Barbara met each other. After we both retired, I met him just once when I had some of my grandsons with me. My sympathies to my other friend, Dan Murphy, and the whole family. There are many professional looking Chiefs with many departments, but something about the photo here, I don't think I ever saw anyone that looked more like a "Chief". I, and I know that many others, too, will miss him.
We are so sorry for your loss. Marty so enjoyed working for Conn all those years at SFPD. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

To the Murphy Family,
It was an honor and privilege to have worked for Chief Murphy. A quiet and gentle man who motivated all of us to get our jobs done. He was a role model and mentor to me and many other members of our San Francisco Police Department family.
Thank you for sharing the Chief with us for all of the years he served.
My thoughts are with you, Betty. It is difficult to loose your mate.. may you find comfort in the sweet memories of your years together.

Chief Murphy was the best Police Chief that I was fortunate enough to serve under. I'll always remember his eyes used to sparkle when he smiled. He had Class. My condolences to his family.
Best boss, I ever had..my best to his family
RIP, Chief. You were an outstanding leader and a credit to the San Francisco Police Department.
My sincere condolences to the family of Chief Murphy. He was a good man.
Betty and family, so sorry to hear of the passing of Chief Murphy. I will always remember the days I worked in the Chief's Office under him. Great Boss! Condolences to all.
To say that I am heartsick, over this loss, would be an understatement. Con was a Chief's Chief! Simply the best at everything he did. He treated everyone fairly, had a smile that would light up a room, and, truly adored his family. The world has lost a great man, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Con, I hope, in heaven, you catch that big one, that always seemed to get away. Happy fishing!
To Betty, and family: You now have your very own angel in heaven, watching over you.
Chief Murphy was the best. He was fair, honest and great to work for. I always appreciated his trust in me. My condolences to the family.
I served under “The Con” while he was Captain of Northern Police Station, and I've always considered him the best Chief of Police of San Francisco.
God bless you Chief Murphy and your family, our prayers are with you.
Sgt. (Ret) Johnny Velasquez
