I will be ever greatful to Jerry Buss for being the best owner a sports franchise could ask for. Nothing but fond memories of Showtime. I will always keep that special time in my heart as it will always remind me of the connection I had with my Dad. Listening to Chick Hearn on radio and watching on tv with the the orchestra leader Magic Johnson. It was poetry in motion. A truly special era. We finally defeated Boston even after the Memorial Day massacre and giving another title away in 84. Thank you to Jerry Buss. He built the only winning team we had a still have in Southern California, the envy of No Cal. He did it with style and grace and didn't get in the way. I know the family will continue his legacy. Laker fans need to stand by the family. The media will try hard to pull us apart. We need to push for a West Coast commissioner. My condolences to the Buss family. I am sure he lived a happy life. He helped bring the joy of team basketball to So Cal. Lakers forever!
To the Buss family and Lakers nation. May God bless and keep you in this time of sorrow.

Jerry Buss was truly an inspiration and a visionary, he lived life fully and happily. He took over a good franchise and made it into the best franchise, much like his path from childhood he never forgot who he was at heart. today we have lost a truly great man whose legacy will live on forever.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Buss family. May God bless
Dr. Buss invented "Showtime", with his savvy player trade deals. His keen eye for talent will be missed. The Buss Family, the Lakers organization, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Magic Johnson, James Worthy, and all former players under Dr. Buss, have my deepest sympathy. Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal.
Jerry Buss was a great visionary and business man. Loved his family and was the best owner in team sports! Praying for his family! God bless!
Mrs. Jeannie Buss & Family,
My prayers and condolences for your overwhelming sense of loss and pain. My father, Frank "Alfred" Tamayo, deceased, (1-28-29 to 10-29-07) also grew up in Kemmerer, WY and graduated from Kemmerer High School. My father left Kemmerer to attend college at Dickinson ND with the help of his high school coach, whose father had ties to the college. My father's athletic ability served him well as he lettered all 4 years in 3 sports and was one of 2 athletes to first achieve that recognition. He still holds the record for the most points scored in a football game set in 1949. He also made it into the "Hall of Fame" 2 times. All because a high school coach saw potential in a kid from Kemmerer who happened to be poor. My father was always proud of Jerry's accomplishments and success, especially because Jerry was also from Kemmerer, WY and graduated from Kemmerer High School. May your memories of your husband/father ease your pain through this most difficult time. God bless your family.
THANKS FOR A LOT OF PROUD MOMENTS FOR THE LAKERS AND HOPE EVERYONE KNOWS HOW MUCH HE DID FOR SO MANY POOR PEOPLE OF ALL RACES AND CREED!REST IN PEACE!

I myself is a newcomer to Jerry's team, but my husban is not. He came to me sadden by the news of his passing. Family there is a time for healing, God is with you lean on Him. Psalm 25:2 Oh my God; I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.
The best thing that happened to the Lakers, is that you became their owner, and even though I am not from LA, I am forever a Laker fan, because of you Mr. Buss, rest in peace, and may God assign you a team in heaven.
Rest in Peace and God Bless... BRANDENBERG FAMILY
In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always.
Thank you for bringing "SHOWTIME" to the Lakers. You saved a failing NBA with your style of ownership that others had to follow. I'm a "LAKER" fan for life!!!!!!!!!!!
To Jeanie and the Buss Family:
I had the honor and privilege to meet your father, when I invited him 28 years ago to throw out the "First Ball" prior to an NCAA Division II College World Series Game. He could have said "no", but he drove out (along with Bob Steiner) and couldn't have been nicer. He was honored that night as an "American Sports Legend" and it felt good to bestow that honor upon him. He was in great company too, for on another night we honored Chuck "The Rifleman" Connors.
More importantly, he had a great time. So good, in fact, he later mentioned it in an interview in the Los Angeles Times.
I never had the chance to see him again after that, but will never forget the joy it brought him and me, for having made the right choice and extend the invitation and for his acceptance.
He was a true gentleman and was gracious and polite. He took time to get to know me and I treasure it as one of the most emotional moments of my life.
I join all of you in mourning his loss, but celebrating his championship life!
May many fond memories of him console you in the days ahead.
Mr Buss, I hope your passage to the next plane and dimension of existence is as smooth and pleasant as a drive down a coastal California highway in your convertible, on a sunny day, with the top down and the music playing. Thanks for all the sports memories between the men in Purple and Gold and the men in Green. I know your family will carry on the great tradition you built with the LA Lakers and keep your spirit alive in their hearts and in all they do. Peace Tim Carrigan Quincy,Massachusetts
