Alex:
I was sorry to hear of Bill's passing. He was an icon who we will all miss.
To the McBride Family,
"Though nothing can bring back the hour
of splendor in the grass
and glory in the flower
we will grieve not,
but rather find
strength in what
remains behind"
our thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time.
warm regards,

Dear Alex, Bert, and Lexi,
Bill was one of my first visitors in Tampa when I arrived at USAA in 1996. As another Marine, we had instant rapport--especially when we learned we had both commanded the same rifle company in Vietnam. He shared a story that he had kept to himself for years and it made our bond even stronger. Like you, I will miss him deeply. He was a devoted husband and father, friend, and a fighting Marine. He embodied our motto,
Semper Fidelis!

Dear McBride Family: Your loss is a loss for all who had the pleasure of knowing or working with Bill. With all his energy and passion, Bill had a huge positive impact on so many. And I'd bet he's not done yet! May fond memories and the love of family and friends be a comfort to you.
Alex,
As you may know, Bill was my good friend and was a friend to the Struggle for equal rights for all. Thank God for him and for the great legacy he leaves for your children and your children's children.
I met Bill more than ten years ago when he was running for governor. It took no more than a few minutes to know he was truly larger than life. There could not be a more kind, intelligent, thoughtful and true gentleman. He exhibited to me what so many who joined his cause long knew--Bill was a leader in every sense of the word. Just a few months ago I went to his office and he welcomed me with that same graciousness I knew from years ago.
We are all poorer for this loss.
My deepest condolences to Alex, Bert and Lexi; thank you for sharing this amazing man with us.
My prayer and sympathy for Mrs. McBride and family.

Alex, I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm so surprised to learn of Bill's passing, much too young. I was one of those hopefulls, doing what we could, eager for Bill to become our Governor.
May you find peace in the days ahead, you'll be in my thoughts.....
