The absence of your presence in the theatre is massive and vast, yet your dancers do your legacy proud.

You worked in the worlds of dance, theatre, film, television, and music, and wherever you were at work, you knew how to entertain an audience.

You were my mentor, and my great friend for 30 years. Thank you for all you gave to me, to your family, to your audiences and to this world. May you continue to entertain your audiences in the next...

For all the wonderful, wonderful memories for over 20 years, thank you so much! With deepest sympathy to those who must go on without you.

The hole left by your absence is mammoth. Words can't decribe how this all feels without you. Boss - we all miss you so much.

Well Michael, your tenure at SFB all those years gave me great joy. It was wonderful to see you in Missoula and the new company perform for your 60th birthday. It brought great memories of those
years, the good and the crazy. Going to Washington D.C. to experience the SFB performance at Kennedy Center of "Song for Dead Warriors" and the acceptance by that audience. I wish I had been able to see your tribute to Bill King and Nancy. We miss them as we will be missing you. Our thoughts go to the family, particularly Shane and Paula.

I am shocked and saddened to learn of Michael's death. San Francisco and the dance community in particular are poorer for this loss. I first met Michael when he became co-director of the San Francisco Ballet. Jim and I always supported him after the tumultuous events of his leave taking. My thoughts are with Paula and with Shane.

Dear Paula and Shane,
I am unable to find the words to express how I feel about Michael. Just know for now, I am thinking of you at this very difficult time.
Take care,
Bene

I remember Michael from his brief stay at the University of Utah and have followed his career throught the years. His passing is a great loss to the dance community.
