Ruby L. Cabral
09/22/1923 - 11/08/2012
Resident of San Lorenzo
At rest surrounded by her loving family at the age of 89. She is predeceased by the love of her life, her husband of 49 years, Ernest Cabral; and her loving siblings Pearl Shei, Lettie Langford, Reginald Craig, & Avery Craig. She is survived by her beloved children Denny Holmes, Nancy (Rich Amate), & Ernie (Jeanne) Cabral, Jr.; proud Grandmother of 5; cherished Great-Grandmother of 14; adored Great-Great-Grand-mother of 7; she is also survived by her brother Gene (Pat) Craig and sister Margaret McAlpine.
Ruby was proud to have served the San Lorenzo School District for 30 years, managing the cafeteria. Following her retirement she found great pleasure in various jobs, which were labors of love. She was energetic, involved, and loved people as was demonstrated by her volunteer work at Kaiser and by her membership in various service organizations such as The Moose Club and Eagles Club. She took great pride in her work with her husband and friends to form and serve the Ashland Little League.
She developed close and lasting relationships with friends in the neighborhood, where she lived for 61 years.
She was an avid fan of the local sports teams and was ecstatic to see the Giants win the World Series, for the second time. She loved life and will be missed by all who knew and loved her, but we take comfort knowing she is back in the arms of her beloved husband.
Friends may visit on Wednesday after 10:00AM and are invited to the funeral service also on Wednesday at 11:00AM, all at Holy Angels Funeral & Cremation Center, 1051 Harder Rd., Hayward, where services will conclude.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kaiser Hospice, 700 Ygnacio Valley Rd., Suite 140, Walnut Creek, CA 94596, or your favorite charity.
