I have always been proud to have Barbara's name and signature in my log book. That was 40 years ago.A great person to have known

It was a privilege to be introduced to Barbara London by her daughter, Terry London Rinehart, several years ago. The WASP were remarkable women I deeply admired as role models at a time when few existed. She helped pave the way for people like her daughter, granddaughters and many young women with dreams of flying the 'big iron.' She truly had a full and wonderful life, and I salute her many accomplishments.

As I drove past LGB yesterday, I had a very strong urge to detour and find Barbara London Way. I resisted again and continued to return to my mother's bed-side. At home I searched the internet and found the obit. Barbara and Jack (my dad's high school pal) stood up at the alter at my parents' (Helen Parker and Bill Holden) wedding while the three parents and a sister watched from the pews. (The wedding was in Oakland and a secret because TWA hostesses were not allowed to marry then.) Though I only recall meeting Barbara a few times, I heard about her all my life. I am proud and in awe of her aviation accomplishments and I remember her sense of humor. Sincerest condolences from Donna Holden (and Helen P. Holden!).

Barbara ... my pal, mentor, confidant, teller of tales, fellow watcher of "old" movies, loyal friend, and the person who guided me through the last 21 years of my life. Without you I wouldn't be a pilot, a historian, a writer. You loved me like a daughter and it made me a much better person because of it. I'll miss my pal.
