I read The Family Nobody Wanted when I was in high school and enjoyed it so much. She was a remarkable lady.

My sympathy goes out to the Doss-Reed family for the loss of such a wonderful Woman. I bought a DVD of You bet your life, and the episode of the Doss's was on it. I looked up the book she mentioned and immediately bought it on line from a used book source. I was so touched by the book and their selfless pursuit to give these children a home. I have read the book several times, and am touched each time. May God be with all of Helen's children, and Heaven has received a wonderful new resident. We love you Helen!

Before I met Helen, I, like so many, was moved by "The Family Nobody Wanted." Helen's book inspired and supported me through the adoptions of our three children, and meeting her only confirmed what a remarkable woman, mother, and human being she was.

With love to all her family,

Mary Battenfeld (Boston)

I had the privilege of doing my CNA Clinicals at Mt. Miguel Covenant from December 2012 to March 15, 2013... where this Wonderful woman resided with her Love Mr. Roger Reed. Helen and I had an automatic connection. When the other nurses couldn't get her to eat I could.. She helped me in more ways than one.. I had recently lost my father to Alzheimer's the year before I met Helen. Even though she couldn't communicate very well, I could get her to laugh...I am so very sorry for your loss all the children of Miss Helen. If I was in a mood before getting to work, that mood left me when I would go and check on your mom. I would stay extra late and read to her her prized book The Family Nobody Wanted... Just the look in her eyes and the smile on her face was enough for me! She was a phenomenal lady. I will miss her so. I take solace in knowing that she is up there in heaven with her loves and watching over all of us. She will be forever etched in my heart. RIP Miss Helen. Until we meet again!
Love your friend,
Melanie
