John Bewley Allen of Indian Wells passed peacefully on August 3. John was born in Whittier, California on June 14, 1930, the second child of Caroline and Bewley Allen.
He graduated from Whittier High School where he met his wife of 62 years, Carol Allen. They married in 1951 and lived in Whittier. John served in the US Navy from 1951 to 1955 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Lieutenant-JG.
In 1955 they settled in San Marino, and raised their children Susan, Scott and Sharie. As a family they shared many adventures traveling throughout the US and Canada. Summers were spent in Durango CO, Sunriver OR, and on Balboa Island.
John was a successful Cadillac dealer, earning a 50 year dealer award in 2013.
He was an honest man known for his integrity and always put others first.
He is survived by children Susan O'Brien (Jay), Scott Allen (Karen), Sharie Allen Jaynes. Grandchildren Jerick and Delaney Evans, Michael and Christopher Allen, Natalie, Madeline and Lily Jaynes. As well as many beloved friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00am Thursday August 14, 2014, at Pacific View Memorial Park, 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona Del Mar, CA 92625
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations in honor of John to: Greater Whittier YMCA, 12510 E. Hadley Street Whittier, CA 90601-3942, or a charity of your choice.
