My deepest sorrow in the loss of your mother, wife, and to the world a wonder inspiration. I met Sheila and Julee many years ago when they were promoting their Silver Palate products- oh my they were wonderful, both Sheila and Julee plus their product. Sheila always took time to meet with me when I traveled to NY for buying trips- she even marked the 'must try" recipes in the Silver Palate Cookbook- I treasure and use that book so often. She truly is the Julia Child of today.

I was a young mother 20 years ago wehn I learned to cook - My first cookbook was The Silver Palate Cookbook. Since that first recipe I was hooked on her recipes and ideas and truly just everything. I have collected all of her cookbooks and have made hundreds of recipes of hers over the years. Just today, I made her pizza crust. Thank you to her family for sharing her with us all of these years. I will miss her and her cooking inspiration greatly.

Thank you to Ms. Lukins, who opened up a world of flavor combinations to those of us who were bored cooking dishes from single ethnic cultures. I have most of her cookbooks and have used them often to rave reviews. I especially enjoyed "Around the World" and her recent "Ten". Her talents as a food visionary and chef will be missed. My condolences to her friends and family.

So young, talented, passionate and taken from us way to soon. I learned to cook with Sheila's books and have them all. I also made every recipe as well. She was my template and her love for cooking was contagious.She made it fun! Adored The Silver Palate Store too. She is missed already, but her legacy remains within her creative and spectacular everlasting recipes.Condolences to the entire Lukins' Family and especially at this Holiday Time. Sheila is cooking with the angels now. G-D Bless her~

For Shelia

WEEP NOT FOR ME

Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.

Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.

I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.

Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.

Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.

Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

I met Sheila when she was in town for a book signing in 1997 - the USA cookbook. I also brought along my old, food-stained copy of the All Around the World cookbook for her to sign that day and I was touched by how genuinely happy she was to sign such a messy book! She was delightful, her recipes will always be loved, and I am sad to hear of this tragic loss. My best to her family.

My friends and I made many wonderful meals and memories using the Silver Palate cookbooks. We are shocked and very sad--Sheila will be missed by many. Bless her soul and may your family find comfort at this difficult time.
