I am so sorry to hear that my godmother Cathie has passed away. She was an adopted 'aunty' to the five Harvey children, of whom I am the youngest. She lived in the house behind us when I was born and got on famously with my parents, Peggy and Wilf - with special permission to use our garden as a short cut from Hindmarsh Drive to Hardie Drive! I've lived in Scotland for nearly 40yrs but on visits home I would occasionally take Mam to visit Cathie. We always had a wonderful welcome, - great chat and delicious cakes! She would show us her latest craft projects which were always beautiful. Mam had been good at needlecrafts too so perhaps this helped their bonding in the early days. After Mam died in 2014, I visited Cathie a few times when I was down visiting the cemetery, and we planned to go out for lunch next time. Some day I'll find the place she suggested and have a meal in memory of my ever loving, welcoming, skilful, and most interesting godmother, whom I will miss even though I only saw her very occasionally over the years. My heart goes out to Trevor and all the family - her family, whom she loved very much.
My deepest sympathies, Christine Bayfield (nee Harvey)
