Mr. Darrow was a teacher of mine at Arthur Circle. I believe I had him for two years. He was a good teacher. Later in life I saw him over in Dixie Gardens in a golf cart. This has been some 30 years ago and I can't remember why I was in the area. I believe Mr. Darrow lived in the area. My prayers are with his wife & family at this time. No service...???

Uncle Darrow was one of a kind. I have so many good memories of him and Jean when I was growing up. I was so proud to know my uncle was a pastor. The emails he sent me before getting too ill are priceless.

What a pleasure to have known our friend, Bill Darrow. Chick knew him from their teenage years, living in the same neighborhood, and went all through school together. They loved each other like brothers all their lives. Bill and Jean were our friends and we have enjoyed many, many hours together, going to Grotto, to dances at the VFW, and going out to eat. Jean, I hope that you, Bobby and Billy will always know that we love you, that you are in our prayers, and that if you need us, all you have to do is call. We will miss Bill immensely - - he was always soooooo much fun to be around, always with a big smile on his sweet face. We love you, Bill- - - rest in peace - - - and we'll catch up with you again one of these days !

My uncle, Bill Darrow, was not just a bright light of his family, he was a beacon. He shone with goodness, humor, wisdom and love. All who loved him are better off by knowing him. He loved God, family and country. He knew hard times. He knew good times. He did our name proud. Bill, I am going to miss you. May the Lord bless and keep you.

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Elbert William (Bill) Darrow our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Bill. And to Bill it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country Post WW-II while serving as in the U.S. Marine Corps. Bill, we commend you for your honorable service. You are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. You upheld the finest qualities of an American patriot warrior: courage, commitment, generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country. You were a true friend. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,261 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to Bill's family and loved ones.
