PRESTON, IDAHO - Billy Jo Onstead Whipple Price (Mother of Donna Philbrick), 91, former Ennis, Texas resident, passed away on Feb. 18, 2013, at the Heritage Home in Preston, Idaho. She was born Sept. 18, 1921, in Palmer, Texas to William Franklin and Ezra Nevada Lisman Onstead. She graduated Valedictorian at Ennis High School in 1938. She attended Texas Tech College in Lubbock, Texas.
She is survived by one son, Frank Whipple of White Sulphur Springs, Montana; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Susan Jo (H.D.) Rogers of Shreveport, Louisiana; Donna Lynn (Don) Philbrick of Preston, Idaho; Laura Lee Whitelaw of Fort Worth, Texas; six grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was active in church choirs and as a piano accompanist for most of her life. She finished in the Top 10 in the Ms. Senior Texas Pageant in 1996. She was the longtime pianist for the Wesleyan Sunday School Class, First Methodist Church of Richardson, Texas. She retired in 1976 at Ellington AFB, in Houston, Texas, after 25 years of civil service. She also accompanied her three daughters in the 1950's and 60's as they performed vocally in the Shreveport/Bossier City, Louisiana area and later in the Dallas- Fort Worth, Texas area, including Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Whipple of Waxahachie, Texas in 1978; by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Onstead, long-time residents of Ennis, Texas; by a son-in-law, Lt. Col. Mark C. Whitelaw of Fort Worth; and by her second husband, Richard A. Price, Sr. of Richardson and Dallas.
In lieu of flowers, gifts to Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas, Texas, First United Methodist Church of Richardson, Texas or any charitable organization of your choice would be deeply appreciated.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, February 25, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Riverdale, Idaho. Friends may call Monday from 2-2:45 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Riverdale, Idaho Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com
