So sorry to hear of Uncle Punkin"s passing. We enjoyed his personality so much. One of the biggest memories was while visiting LA and Joey (14 or so) tried to fish in the creek behind the house with a ocean rig set up on a 12+foot pole. What a riot with those two in the backyard. Joey even got lucky and caught a fish that most of us would call "bate!" Uncle Punkin just loved it.
He will be missed
I was saddened to learn of the passing of your husband & Father. I have many fond memories of the Leach family. Billie was my piano teacher, Christy was my "little sister", Charles and Gary were the little brothers. I always enjoyed talking to your Dad before or after church at Lakeshore Baptist. He was always friendly and very kind. His twinkling eyes always showed love and caring. And I enjoyed his humor. I hope you all are well and recovering from your loss. You are a wonderful family and will always have a special place in my heart through fond memories.
God bless you all - John "Johnny" Williams
Ms. Billie, Christy, and Katie, and the rest of your family,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. What a loving and wonderful husband, father, and grandfather you had! Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you.
I too, loved Denny Ray. From the time I met him when I was in the 7th grade until the last time I saw him, he always treated me with respect and kindness. When I had a chance to visit with Denny, he was always interested with the railroad, the stock market, but above all, his family. I will miss him dearly. I always treated him like a parent. He always treated me like a friend. You are a good man, Denny Ray. I love you.
Christy, I am so sorry about your loss. I know how hard it to lose a dad. Take care of your mom. She will probably need you now more than ever. You will all be in my prayers. God bless all of you!
Christy, You know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Bless you, and your family.
I will miss you Punkin - Bill Leach
Billie, Christy, Charles and Gary,

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Denny Ray Leach our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Ray. And to Ray it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during WW-II while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Ray, we commend you for your honorable service. You are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. You upheld the finest qualities of an American patriot warrior: courage, commitment, generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country. You were a true friend. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,261 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to Ray's family and loved ones.

Thank you Uncle "Punkin" for the example you set for us.
I just learned of dear Mr. Leach's passing. Such a wonderful man, with such a wonderful family. My thoughts are with you all.
Marshall and I have just learned of your loss of Dennie. What a sweet , Christian man, he was. I know that God has a very special place, beside HIM in Heaven. He was so precious and I know that you will miss him dearly. However, he finished his course, and , it was well done. He will be there, at those Holy gates, to greet his loved ones, when they arrive. You and the family, will remain in our prayers. God Bless each of you.
Dear Billy & all your family,
I read in this morning's paper about Ray. Forgive me for not staying in contact with you all the years since we moved from Sumner street. Living in Waskom now for over 35 years.
I called your # listed and also Ray's and no answer. Will try the # maybe listed in Christie's married name later.
My heart is reaching out to you at this time. I am so sorry for your loss. As I remember, Ray was a wonderful man, great husband to you and father to his kids. Francis and I are doing fine for our ages... he is 80 and me 83. I cannot make Shreveport to see you right away. Just know I am thinking of you and just how much I cared for you and Ray. I will be calling you at a later time. Much love always

Aunt Billie, Christy, Gary and Charles: what a wonderful example Uncle Punkin set for all of us as we were growing up! A true man of God! He taught with his knowledge, but more importantly, he taught with his Walk! As a tried and true Marine, he was...ALWAYS FAITHFUL! Love you all!
Condolences to the Leach family.

Christy, I am very sorry to hear you lost your father. Prayers for you and your family during this sad time.
I have such sweet memories of Mr. Leach when I was growing up at Lakeshore Baptist Church. He was so good to us. My sister, Stephanie, and I knew he would always have a pastry for us on Sunday mornings before Sunday School. I think of him every time I see a chocolate éclair. I hope his family is comforted knowing he lived a full life and meant so much to so many.
Christy, I am so sorry to hear about your dad, I remember him so well, please give your family my condolences, Love ya, Theresa
