I recently found out about the loss of such a wonderful and devoted mother, wife, and friend. My prayers go out to her family, and for this courageous, loving woman. God Bless.
Mr Harling, Bobby, John and family. I am sorry to hear about your loss. You are all in my prayers and thoughts. I did not realize that Margaret had died until I was researching some of the Faulkner-Harling lines from Edgefield. Again, you all are in my prayers.
I'm so sad. I just now saw that she had died. She was in the same ward as my dad before he died. I just loved watching how excited she would get when her husband would come. They were like 2 teenagers...
Dear Bob, Robert and family: My sincere sympathy on the passing of Margaret...a lovely woman I got to meet when I was doing Steel Magnolias in Monroe,LA. She and Bob spent time with us sharing stories about the family and we will alwyas cherish the gracious and beautiful lady she was. We were honored to tell her story. I know she gave many years of service to your community for which many people will always be grateful as she lives on in our hearts.
Dear Harling Family: I had the chance to meet Margaret (and Bob) when we visited the family homw. I was fortunate enough to be directing Steel Magnolias in Monroe, Louisiana and they were gracious enough to spend time with us and then come see the production. She was a lovely and charming woman who contributed so much to her community. She will be missed but leaves a wonderful legacy of love and service.
Bobby and family,
I am so very sorry for the loss of you mom and I am thinking of you during this time of great loss. May you find comfort in your memories of her. Fondly, Nancy Makar
Very sorry to hear of your mom's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Mr. Harling, Bobby and Johnny, praying for all of you at this most difficult time. Mrs. Harling was a strong woman of grace and poise......she will be deeply missed. Take comfort in knowing that so many are holding you up in prayer.....
I remember Mrs. Harling as a mother who was dedicated to her daughter Susan. She gave her all of the love a mother can give, and I know she will be greatly missed by all
I met this lovely woman five years ago while visiting Natchitoces on a Steel Magnolia pilgrimage. A few days ago, I lost my 14-year-old nephew in a tragic drowning. I take comfort in the strength Mrs. Harling exhibited in her life and I imagine that the mother and child reunion between Mrs. Harling and Susan was the greatest heaven has ever seen. My sympathies to the family. Michaél Elaine Alegria, Spokane, Washington
Bobby...I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. In 1978, I was part of a tour group you led through Europe and I remember how affectionately you spoke of your mom. I know she must have been so proud of you and of your success. May you find comfort and peace in the days ahead.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family during this most difficult time. May it help in some small way to know others care.

Robert created such a dear tribute to Margaret and Susan...proud to be part of NSU and to have attended the premier of Steel Magnolias in Natchitoches. Margaret and Susan are celebrating in Heaven today. To the Harling family: many many people send prayers and thoughts to you.
Praying for you in this time of sorrow.
Such a beautiful and elegant lady - always enjoyed talking with her when we lived in Natchitoches. Heaven has another Southern Belle in angel form! Prayers for her family - she will be missed.
A kind and generous lady with a great smile. Our prayers are with you. Kevin and Janice Bolton
I was so sorry to hear of your loss. Margaret was such a blessing to me while I lived in Natchitoches. She was so loving and sweet to me when I saw her and even called me several times to encourage me and show me God's love. I was truly inspired by her and so thankful to have known her.
She and Susan are rejoicing in heaven today! She was a wonderful mother and wife and magnolia. Rest in peace, mrs. Margaret.
What a beautiful and kind women, your Mother was. Greg and I have such great memories of her and all the great meals and times, we spent in her wonderful home.
Ya'll where blessed to have such a remarkable Mother.
Love, Greg and Hope
May the Lord Bless you during this time of great loss. Even thought I never met Mrs. Harling or any of the family, I like millions of others feel as if we "know" her through watching "Steel Magnolia". It is a movie that my family has watched so many time that we know exactly what is going to be said in each scene to the point that we have been guilty of using some of the expressions in our own daily lives---and people know exactly what we are talking about. Celebrate the love, laughter, and happy memories of your wife, mom, grandmother, and friend to so many. Also know that there are millions of people sharing your loss.
With love from another "Steel Magnolia".
Dear Johnny and family, I am so sorry to hear this news! Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers!

A wonderful lady that truly was a blessing to know. May Our God provide comfort to her family and friends for she touched the lives of many.
Bobby, so sorry to hear of the passing of your mother; she was definitely a steel magnolia. I'm praying that God will give you His peace during this time.
The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to our Sister in Arms, Margaret Jones Harling. To her family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Margaret. And to Margaret it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank her for her dedicated and selfless service she rendered to her country during WW-II while serving asa nurse in the U. S. Army Medical Corps. Margaret, we commend you for your honorable service. You are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,261 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to Margaret's family and loved ones.

Mrs Harling was just so very special. I first met her when I was working for Dr Mary Roose and the Harlings' would come to see her. She will be missed, but we know where she is now.

Bobby, am so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. It is hard to lose your mother no matter what the circumstances of her life. She was loved by so many in Natchitoches and
beyond. She will be missed by all who knew her.
I'm heartbroken to learn of Margaret's passing. I have known and loved her practically my entire life. Susan is surely waiting for our original "Steel Magnolia" at Heaven's door!
