Helen Casillas Obituary

1940 – 2013

Helen Casillas, born Maria Elena Casillas, went home with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 14, 2013.

She was born April 22, 1940 in Los Angeles, CA to William and Eva Casillas. She met and married Jerry Hency in 1960. One year later, Helen gave birth to her daughter, Lisa Marie and two years later, youngest child, Karin Lorraine.

Helen was a loving mother to her daughters. She helped her husband start an air conditioning business and following her divorce in 1980, went to work for Bendix in Sylmar, CA. Later, she became a realtor in the Santa Clarita Valley.

In her later years with declining health, Helen moved to the Sacramento area and lived with her sister, Marguerite Hall. She was happy to be near her daughter Lisa and her grandchildren as well.

Helen will be remembered as a compassionate and caring mother, sister, and aunt, and a true friend to all who knew her.

Helen is survived by her daughters Lisa Hency, of El Dorado Hills, CA and Karin Nelson (Karin's husband, Marc), of Meredith, NH; her sister, Marguerite Hall, of Elk Grove, CA; her grandchildren: Michael Nelson (his wife Ashleigh) of Waltham, MA; Emilie Nelson of Boston, MA; Justin Bauler of Elk Grove, CA; Alex Bauler of El Dorado Hills, CA; and her great-granddaughter, Makenna Rose Nelson of Waltham, MA. She is also survived by her niece, Michelle Ernster (husband Matt), of Elk Grove, CA and their children: Kristen and Logan Leatherman, Elizabeth and Rayman Ernster; her nephew, Russell Magloughlin (his wife to be Amy Schacher) and their children: Ryan Magloughlin and Brycen Schacher of Fargo, ND.

Services will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Main Chapel at East Lawn Mortuary, 9189 East Stockton Blvd, Elk Grove, CA 95624.

Hi Helen, I was visiting the memory book for my son Jeffery. This brought back many memories of all who are forever sealed in my heart. You were in his heart too as noted in his remarks in your memory book. All is true today of what we felt when you left us. I Pray you will find each other in heaven.

My brothers and I knew Helen since we were very small. Growing up there were so many times our family's got together for river trips, trips to Lake Nacimiento, Lake San Antonio, and holidays. These were great times. Times I will cherish in my memory of Helen forever. Helen, I love you too, and I will never forget you.

We were sad to hear the news of the passing of our friend Helen. She was so vivacious, full of chitter chatter and plenty of smiles!! Now it is time to do the same thing in heaven.
We are sad for us here and glad for her now she is at peace!! You will always be remembered by Gary and Bonnie Ventsam fondly.

I will miss my friend of 30+ years. One of my best memories of Helen is when we would say " Is Helen ready" and she would reply. " I am woman" I am sure she is in a much better place! No more pain and suffering.

Helen and I share the same birthday date and we used to send happy birthday wishes to each other. I always looked foward going over to the Hency's when I was young for Thanksgiving. She put in loving effort in her preparation for those days so all of us can enjoy the time together. Thank you Helen for all your love and caring and what you've done for me. I considered you always as my 2nd mom while growing up and still do. I'll see you later!

Larry and I have known Helen from the early 60's. She was a fun loving friend and we enjoyed water skiing, partying, and dancing with her. After she moved away we kept in touch through letters, e-mails, and telephone. She will be missed by all. Larry and Wanda Cowan

I grew up next door to Helen and her family. I have many fond memories of knocking on her back door looking for my mom, who would be over having coffee with her . She was a wonderful women and friend. I hope she's enjoying a coffee with Lorraine right now.

Helen has been one of our dearest friends for almost 50 years. We raised our children together, we vacationed together. We shared lots of joy and some sorrow. Knowing her was a privilege, being her friend was an honor. We will forever treasure our shared memories. Our eternal love, Gorman and Scottie Wallace

A good friend from Bendix and for many years after. She taught me how to be myself and we went out to dinner many times. She loved Mulligan's Restaurant. She took me to Parents without Partners gathering, that was an eye opening night. Will miss her. She always talked about her daughters and her sister. My prayers are with all of you.
