I was so saddened to read about Amy's passing in the SHG newsletter. We had a lot of fun together during our time there. Her family is in my prayers.

What a loss! Amy was a fantastic girl in high school and it sounds as if she only got better (is that possible?) as she progressed through life. She will obviously be sorely missed. My thoughts are with Amy's family and friends. May she live on in each of us, on the soccer fields and running trails and in the classrooms.

Jim, Jimmy and Carol -

Amy was one of my dearest friends. What I liked best about our friendship was that we could pick up right where we left off even if it had been months since we had last talked. Whenever I got together with Amy and Jill (Baumgartner) Corddry, I felt like we were back at the lunch table at SHG, like no time had passed!

My favorite memory of Amy is the day she strolled into Algebra II carrying a rolled-up white poster board. She passed it to me, I unrolled it, and found she had carefully written out a poem in calligraphy. It came from a popular Nike advertisement that started, "Too often we are scared..." and ended with "Just do it!" Amy knew I wanted to try out for the school musical, but was having trouble working up the courage. She told me, you have to go for it! You'll regret it if you don't try! She was right, and I did try out -- and it opened the door to theater for me, which has been one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life, and a place where I've met many friends. I might never have done it without Amy's support, encouragement, and keen insight to know exactly when a friend needed a push.

Truth be told, I think that may have been one of Amy's favorite memories of me -- she liked to email me pictures of me on stage with the caption, "Look! Our lawyer can dance!" (Or at least try!)

I also think of Amy every time I pick up a pair of running shoes. I was always so impressed with her athleticism -- that was something I didn't work into my life until relatively recently. I emailed Amy two summers ago and told her I had joined an intramural softball team and started running. She sent me a great card telling me how proud she was that her bookworm friend had grabbed a pair of spikes and a glove and hit the field!

This year, in Amy's honor, I walked with some friends in the Race for the Cure. Next year, my goal is to run. When I do, I know Amy will be with me, her pony tail blowing in the wind. That is how I remember her, with her quiet smile, tucking her hair behind her ears.

I miss her. But, I know she lives on in all of us!

My best to all of you. Please, let's not lose touch. Amy would not like that!

With love and deepest sympathies --
Shannon Connors

PS - Amy, I wish I had made it to the shore with you! You explained what a "clam bake" was. I still haven't been to a clam bake, but I do love crab cakes!

While Amy and I both shared a passion for the arts and soccer, it was her gentle spirit that taught me grace. She always wore a smile and carried herself with pride - even if we were riding the bench as freshman for Varisty Soccer. ;) My condolences go out to her family in this time of sorrow and send love and prayers. Dear Jimmy,

Mike and I are saddened by the news of Amy's passing. She was a beautiful, cheerful, intelligent and talented woman who was your perfect match. Though we last saw her at your wedding, we heard about how hard both of you fought in her battle with cancer from so many of your Beloit College friends over the years.

You and Amy have been in our prayers for years and we will continue to pray for you now.

Our deepest sympathy,
Mike and Heather Walsh
